Well it has been a long time since I have written anything on here and I thought that it was about time to make it a priority. August has been one crazy month. It started out with Junior 2. I was not around too much of that camp because I got pretty sick and stayed away from camp to try to get better. After about 3 weeks I think that I am finally beating it.
When I got back to camp it was a lot of planning and getting ready for Senior 1. Peter, Candice and I were trying to get a lot of things done in the break so that things were done by the time they left to go to a wedding. We did get everything done and I was feeling prepared for campers to return back from outtrips and not have them there. As the outtrips returned I had to deal with a couple things that didn’t go well at first but then went a lot better. I was feeling pretty good about things and then my world was rocked. I was told that my cousins oldest son had passed away. This rocked me in a way that I could not have imagined. I had spent so much time with my cousin and his family over the year and a half that I lived in Red Deer and I could not believe that Chase would no longer be there when I go to visit them. I did my best to be here but my thoughts were in Red Deer and with my family. I was able to get up to visit them on the Saturday but Senior 1 did not end until Tuesday so I came back for the end of camp and then went back up after camp was over. The funeral on Friday was amazing. Chase had such a great life and was loved by a lot of people. It was great to see all the people from all areas of his life there to support his family. Thank you to all of you who have been praying for me and my cousins family during this time. If you could please continue to pray for them as it is still going to be very tough. Chase I love you with all my heart and miss you like crazy.
Senior 2 has started and the outtrips are already out. It has been a great camp so far and am looking forward to the campers returning tomorrow. The theme for this week is Media and it has been a very different camp so far. At the beginning of the camp we had all things media happening. Music was playing in the courtyard, star trek and videos from the day playing in the dining room and a ton of advertisements all over the place. That has now ended and we have normal camp again. It is interesting how people come to love the quietness of camp and then when we bombard camp with media people hate it but it is just normal life. I am hoping that the campers are seeing the same things and that they will be impacted by the camp and what we are trying to teach them.
So that has been August in a nut shell. I am very sorry that it has taken me so long to write this.
