Well it has been one month now since I officially started at Crow. It has been a crazy month full of training, hiking, cooking and a road trip to Calgary. All of these aspects have allowed me to have some great times with the COLTS, getting to know them a little better. The COLTS this year consist of 3 guys (Andrew, Joe and Tim) and 2 girls (Claire and Bronwyn). This group is so awesome because they are so different from each other yet respect each other for their differences. I have enjoyed every minute of getting to know them. We have had so many great laughs so far and I know that there are going to be many more throughout the summer.
For me I have been in the kitchen a lot over the last month and I have loved every minute of it. Well maybe that is going a little too far. I have enjoyed it a lot but the pressure of making things that I have never made before for 15 plus people is a little stressful too. From the reviews that I get after each meal I think that I have done a pretty good job. I have loved trying new things and becoming more confident in my cooking.
Other then cooking I was able to go on a couple of hikes but after the last one I had to make a decision to not go on any more, for a little while a least. I hurt my feet once again so I have decided to take it easy and try to work my way back into hiking so that I do not hurt my feet any more. This decision is not easy to make but it has been a lot easier then that last time I had to make it. I am still hoping that I will again be able to go hiking but right now I am just happy that God has given me the peace of mind about the decision I had to make.
Over the next couple of months things are not going to slow down at all. We have 2 more weeks of COLTS training. On June 11th we are starting our skills training program which I will be involved in. Then June 18th we start our training camp. I will be planning and programming this camp with Peter and Candice Jorgeson (the other half to the Head Counselling team). So a lot of my free time from now until then will be planning that program. Then the summer camps begin June 29th. Camp is still short of staff for the first sessions of the summer – especially counsellors. You could keep that in your prayers with us. It seems so far away still but I know that it will be coming very quickly.
Thank you so much to all who have been praying for me. I know that I would not be here without all of you.
Financial Update:
I am still in need of monthly supporters so that I can keep my focus on the people here, rather than money. Praise God that I was blessed with $850 for May. I am so thankful to all my friends and family who supported me this last month. THANK YOU!
