McGillivray Mountain Site

NEWSFLASH

Meierhofers have been arriving steadily up the mountain over the last number of weeks and finally all 12 of them have climbed the mountain. (Well, we didn't actually climb, we drove up in a number of vehicles filled to the brim!)  Items of choice which made the cut were rubber boots, long-underwear, baby backpacks and lots of socks.  There were two nice sunny days to unpack before the rain hit.  Sources say that the mud inside their living quarters was just as deep as the mud outside.  Rumor has it that the two year old has taken a liking to mud so much she goes and lays down in it outside as often as possible. (Donations will be accepted for the camp water bill as their laundry has reached epidemic proportions.)

Generous use of a large trailer has helped them make a home up on the mountain.  Zachary attacked the job of making bunk beds with vigor.  Now 6 boys sleep in one room and 4 girls in the other.  Mom and dad sleep in the living room on a handy pull out futon.  Thanks to everyone (and especially Charles) who helped miraculously move the trailer up the mountain.

Everyone is preparing for campers to arrive in about 10 days or so.  There is lots of work to be done to get ready and we are all learning new skills up here on the mountain.  Some of the new skills are as follows:

Brian (Chief)- can now drive down the mountain road at record speed without hitting a single pothole (almost) but nearly taking his mirror off on the cattle gate in the process!

Cassandra - is sure she can leg press 300lbs with all the leg muscles she's building running up and down the hill hauling laundry, children, jugs of water, tools....etc.

Zach - can now build bunk beds

Maddison - shot a "robin hood" (where the second arrow splits the first arrow) at skills camp in archery.

Chase - now has a canoeing certificate from skills camp

Olivia - faced her fear and climbed to the top of the climbing wall at main site, and can also mop the bathroom floor like a whiz

Noah - has white hands from painting so much and hauled 57 logs for mommy's new fence

Faith - helped Noah haul the logs and loves to use the walkie talkies

Washington - knows how to use a nail magnet

Emerson - has drawn 87 pictures which he wants to hang up all over camp

Luke - has a stick (sword) in his hand constantly and is always on the war path

Evelyn - has learned how to get out of her playpen. oops!

We will keep you posted on all the God will do at the mountain site this year and we covet your prayers for this large family on the mountain.
