Crowbar 2 #1: The Next Generation – “A New Ting”

“This is what the LORD says- he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters:

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

- Isaiah 43: 16-19

At a recent Camp Board Meeting we had discussions about moving forward to the next phase of camp development.  An expression from the Caribbean came to mind “It’s a new ting”.  The verses from Isaiah echo that statement.  We are ready for a new “ting” at camp – the next phase.  With that in mind we have decided to keep active our little newsletter – the Crowbar (Crowsnest Brief Action Report) to allow supporters to know about camp’s needs.

Praise God for what he has done

  • We have a new lodge which is largely complete.
  • We have a new Director of Camping.

Work on the new Challenges out in front of us:

  • Water issues: the path forward is still uncertain.  It appears we will soon be able to apply for a water license to use a certain quantity of water.  However, we have a number of challenges to demonstrate to the Department of the Environment the “quality” of water.  We are actively seeking solutions to this challenge.
  • Demolition of the old building.
  • We have outstanding loans to individuals from construction of the lodge that need to be repaid over time.
  • A new leadership team needs to build together to form a strong unit.

What can you do to help

  • Pray– we recognize over and over again that the real struggles are spiritual.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph 6:12

Please pray for each of the challenges we face at camp: specifically that the new well would prove to be of good quality.  Pray also that we will have the manpower and equipment to complete the various tasks.

  • Give– Camp does not specifically solicit funds. However, we do want our supporters to know the needs.  At present we need to continue to have donations to the building fund to offset the loans that are in place.  Consider giving above and beyond the usual support for the on-going operations of camp.  We have budgeted to complete the doors inside the lodge plus the eavestrough and parging.  We also have a budget line for a new water system although we are uncertain of the final costs.  If you want more specific details the financial statements are posted here on the website.
  • Help– watch for notices on our web site as to how you can partner with us.

In His grip,

The leadership team
