CROWBAR X - Worship the Creator. Serve the Master.

Romans 12: 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual (or reasonable) act of worship.

Our God is a creator and one way we can worship him is to be creative too.

I like to listen to podcasts as I drive to and from camp for workdays. They keep me awake and on the road. One recently was from BBC All Things Considered. It featured a Welsh Christian artist named Nicholas Evans. You can check it out at   www.mefeedia.com/watch/31605018  He was a man who had been a coal miner in his youth and in later years was a lay preacher and a self-taught artist. You can see some of his work at www.artnet.com/artist/710373/nick-evans.html  I found the interview about him very inspiring. In some of his notes he had commented that he saw his painting as worship. It struck me that we sometimes forget that worship is active and involves doing, giving and creating – not just thinking, singing and praising.

The verbs used in scripture make it obvious that service is worship. When we work for the master we honour Him. In the old testament when the tabneracle was being built God gave special gifts of a spiritual nature to the craftsmen who were to do the work see Exodus 31.

There is much work to do. The outside of our building is close to enclosed. It will still require window trim, siding and stucco. The inside is only just begun. Soon we will be pouring the floor but before that is done we need to place some air exchange ducts and do some further compacting. Can you come and help in this act of worship? We sometimes sing about “I lift my hands up . . .” Could you lift those hands up with a hammer in them or a screwdriver? Soon we will be doing rough in electrical and drywall. Can drywall mudding be an act of worship?

We are still in need of equipment and materials.
• Wall materials, drywall, wainscot panel board, fir 1 x10, 1 x 8, 2 X10 etc.
• A lift to do wall and ceiling work
• Loader, grader or caterpillar and dump trucks for road work
• Tampers or jumping jacks for compacting

Our contractor (ARJAY Builders) is on site full time now so if you have a day give Charles or Rea a call and come down to help

Considering all that God has done for us – this is our reasonable act of worship.

Exodus 31: 2-6 "See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts- to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship. Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you:"
