Crowbar VII (Crow Brief Action Report) One down, Four to go!
This could be a number of things:
Teepees – thanks to Nick, Chas, Mike and (Mad Charlie on the backhoe), one teepee is no more. The childcare teepee was the worst so it went down first. The others will follow over the next year as we say good-bye to the old and hello to the new. Help us get the new lodge built and you can have the privilege of tearing down a teepee (temporary structures that were brought in 20+ years ago)
Workdays – May 1 has come and gone. While others prepared to be Program Directors at a Training Session and COLTS began, a small but valiant crew dug, drilled, tarred and demolished their way through a good workday. There is still a chance for you to get involved in one of the remaining four May 29th - June 5, 19 (hey that’s only 3 but if you want a fourth we’ll organize another one just for you. Tell us when you're available and there will be lots of work for you to do.)
Loans (or maybe they should be called pay-it-forwards) several individuals (let’s say four for continuity sake) have approached the treasurer Ed Bryant expressing an interest in seeing the work on the new lodge continue uninterrupted. In order to have this happen they are willing to provide funds to camp for which they will hold the debt. Should donations come in over time they will be reimbursed. If not, these families will donate the funds over the next twenty years. One loan for $100,000 is already in place and at least three more are expected in the next few weeks. If you are interested in more information or participating in this plan please contact Ed. (edbryant@dartbryant.com)
Phases – well wouldn’t it be great if we could say that one phase is done and there are four more to go? Well it’s almost better than that. This phase is very close to finished. We hope to see the beautiful fir columns go up around the deck this week and then the rest of the roof overhang will be framed out and the sheeting completed. Then the roofing can go on and the outside shell will be finished. That’s actually Phase 2 almost done. (Our first phase was the planning and engineering plus site preparation). The windows and doors are on and parts of the next phase (Mechanical rough in) are complete. Since some money is in place ($60,000 + in donations and $100,000 paid forward), we will continue on, uninterrupted, to put down the concrete floor and begin the interior walls. Soon work will begin on the fireplace at the centre of the new lodge.
Overalls – as a result of the tarring, digging, rock moving (and excellent cooking) over the work weekend I’m retiring one pair of overalls. Hopefully by the time the lodge is done I won’t have worn through four more.
Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.
2 Corinthians 8:11-12 (NIV)
Work, give, pray!
