Over the past years we have been growing and re-building. Evidence of that fact is all around us. It has taken a toll on the full time staff. I can say for sure that it has had its effect on Sandy and I. I have been feeling that we should be looking at hiring more staff, but that has always seemed a little on the impossible side of things (new buildings and new staff is too much, right?). Then we had a couple come to camp who expressed interest in being at camp long-term. I told them that it wasn't very likely. Their response was to ask if they could volunteer but have people support them (raise their own funds). At the same time, we had another individual approach us who was feeling that God was calling them to Crow. I told them it wasn’t very likely. They asked if they could come anyway and whether camp would allow them to have people support them without being on staff (raise their own funds). The board has agreed to allow them to do this. Both of them have decided to come to camp on a “non-matched bursary” basis, until other arrangements can be made. Whatever comes in for them is what they will accept and they will trust God that it will be enough. I am open to answering any questions you may have in this regard.
The couple is Brian and Cassandra Meierhofer (they live in Lethbridge and are the proud parents of 10 children [not a typo]) and they will primarily be taking responsibilities at the mountain site.
The other individual is Ginny Bryant (yep, the one that is my daughter!). She will be helping out at the main site in a number of areas.
It is kind of awkward having your own daughter approach you with such a crazy idea, but if I told you I was anything but thrilled, I would be lying. I am rejoicing that people respond to God the way that they do. I pray that these individuals will be able to come and help us continue in the ministry of encouraging the head-long pursuit of God. I pray that God will use them to enable us to give greater honour and glory to God.
